Everything you need to know about your offshore medical at OmniHealth Amsterdam
To work safely offshore, a valid medical certificate is mandatory. At OmniHealth we conduct both the OEUK Offshore Medical (formerly OGUK) and the Dutch NL Offshore Medical Examination, fully aligned with the most recent industry standards.
Both frameworks were updated in 2025. Want to understand precisely what these changes mean for your sector or role? Our in-depth articles explain the updates clearly:

A proper medical assessment is therefore essential to ensure safe deployment in an environment with limited margins for error.
At OmniHealth, we perform all offshore medicals according to the latest international standards. In some cases, a seafarer medical is also required; when that applies, we schedule both in a single visit and issue all certificates immediately.

Validity of the offshore medical
An offshore medical certificate is valid for up to two years.
To receive an unrestricted certificate, you must meet all requirements of the NL Offshore Medical Examination (ElementNL) and, where applicable, those of OEUK or the Norwegian standard.
Our physician evaluates your fitness in relation to your job role—not only the individual test results, but also your overall resilience, risk factors, and the specific working environment onboard.
We discuss the outcome with you immediately, including any considerations relevant to your deployment.
Your certificate is issued on the spot.
If you have questions or disagree with the assessment, we will discuss the options for follow-up or additional evaluation.

The Chester Step Test is used to assess whether your fitness level meets the demands of your offshore role.
It is mandatory for Emergency Response Team (ERT) members and for several roles in offshore wind.
In other cases, the physician may recommend the test when higher physical demands apply or when there are concerns about functional capacity.
